Hack the Planet, Maya Bar, Wellington, 13.08.10

Wellington’s best 21st century rave culture party continues to brainwash the people of this fair city, with another explosion of awesomeness happening on Friday the 13th of August.

For those unfortunate enough to have missed the first party, Speed of Sound is devoted to house, techno, psy and breaks. There’s a brilliant lineup of DJs: Couch, Chelfyn, Flek C, Jetpilot, Opdorp and Marshall Law will be melting our ears and thrilling our neurons. There will be original tunes, live visuals, mad gadgetry, and an open-source, open-access approach to the whole thing.

The theme for this party? Hack the Planet – a tribute to the cult movie Hackers, which you couldn’t possibly download from: http://bit.ly/bydx4s. To this end, we’ll be serving Jolt Cola, playing oldschool techno and having games of Wipeout,

It’s worth noting that it’s free. Of course. Think of it as a gift from us to you – while it’s certainly brilliant enough to charge for, we’re all about getting as many people as possible to come along, join in, and have an unforgettable night.

So take a trip back to the heady days of the 1990s, when computers were about to change the world.

Warning: scheduling things to do on the Saturday morning would be a mistake. Unless it’s hacking a Gibson, of course.
