Speed of Sound is rave culture upgraded for the 21st century, with original tunes, live visuals, DJ gadgetry, and a participant-friendly culture. We plan to bring you a night full of groovy house, bad-ass breaks and mind-melting psy, with a focus on geek-friendly fun, costumes and general shenanigans.

Featuring dynamic visuals, a chill zone, live internet streaming, CyberBuddha vs MayaTech theme and an EP release from the Shockwave Riders!

I’ve put together a quick tutorial video describing how my Ableton DJing template works. I hope it’s helpful to you.

We’re all very busy with the gig this Saturday, but once that’s over we hope to tidy up the code and do a formal (and open-source) 1.0 release: with another control interface for those of you without a Lemur.

feat. Jetpilot and new artist on the scene: Boy Wonder. Along with Andy B, Perspexx, Rich’d'Rich and Perception blasting sonic deliciousness at the sound barrier. There’ll be aerial performances, a separate chill zone, sound-responsive fire art, dynamic visuals, and drink specials on the night.

Speed of Sound is a monthly DJ night held in Wellington, New Zealand. We specialise in house, breaks, prog, psy and various other bits and pieces. Basically, we want to fill the dearth of music in Wellington for those that want to hear something different from the prevalence of hard house, DnB, and dubstep.

Andrea Knox

Andrea is an aerial dancer specialising in aerial fabric, cloudswing, trapeze, and stilt-dance. Much of her recent work has been in collaboration with Empress Stiltdance, and has included gigs around New Zealand and Asia.

When she’s not performing, Andrea is either building her house, or conducting social research through her company Counterbalance.

Polly Schaverien

Polly is passionate about performing aerial silk … in fact she is a self-confessed silk ‘addict’. Polly has performed at a range of events, both inside and out over the last 3 years. Highlights include a solo silk act at the Vector Wellington Orchestra’s Circus Proms, being an aerial ‘bug’ at Sky City’s New Year celebrations and performing at the Perilous Circus Festival in Civic Square. Her most unusual venue to date was above a swimming pool for the Waitangi Day Festival of the Elements in Porirua. Polly trained in aerial silk through the fabulous Wellington Circus Trust (why not give it a try yourself?).

Aaron Burr

Aaron has been climbing and hanging from things since forever, now he does it to entertain others.

Pipi Ayesha

Pipi-Ayesha Evans is a circus and physical theatre performer. She performs a range of circus aerials (hoop, trapeze, rope, fabric), as well as stilts and theatre.

I’ve got a few hundred printed and on my desk now: we’ll be papering Wellington with them over the next few weeks.
